  • Application form (download here)

  • Cover letter

  • Budget

  • Two (2) letters of recommendation. Recommenders should send letters directly to aegeaninitiative@gmail.com.

    • If supporting an application for fieldwork, please address the applicants teamwork, motivation, adaptability, and resilience.

This grant is designed to facilitate participation in archaeological excavation and other forms of fieldwork by offsetting costs associated with such activities.

Funding will be provided (in whole or in part) for travel, accommodation, meals, membership and registration, and select equipment.

Within four weeks of completing fieldwork, the awardee will submit all original receipts and paperwork for reimbursement, together with an essay. The essay will highlight what they learned from the experience, how it affected their growth as a scholar, the benefit of the ABASI grant to them personally and professionally, and their anticipated next steps (e.g., presentation at a conference, additional research, and/or publication). This information will be shared with donors, and quotes from this essay may be featured on the awardee’s scholar profile.

The awardee will present the result of their field season to ABASI board members, donors, and scholars via Zoom during the semester following the completion of their project.

The awardee may be invited to present their work at the annual ABASI conference and other events.
